Reservations: Reservations must be made through our online reservation system in advance with the fees paid. No phone or fax reservations will be accepted unless fees are taken from the unit account. Reservations must be made one week in advance.
Cub Scout Usage of Camp
Backyard camping and camping with ones’ own family is permitted for Cub Scouts. The policy of the program does not permit overnight camping for Cub Scouts on a den or pack basis – except for parent and child camping. One or two parent and child overnight experiences are permitted with the Webelos Scouts under proper leadership in safe surroundings. BALOO training is required for Cub Scout unit camping. The one child to one parent requirement is a council requirement. One parent may camp with one or more siblings but not with someone else’s child.
Permitted for a daytime activity, pack picnics and family camping. Competent two-deep leadership (21 years of age or older) must accompany all groups on non-overnight activities. A ratio of two adults to 8 cub scouts should be present. All requests for use of camp must be made in advance at Scout Service Center. A copy of the camp permit will be given to the ranger and a copy kept in the office. All packs will check in and out with the ranger and be responsible for clean up.
Scouts BSA Usage of Camp
Permitted for all patrol and troop camping.
Competent two-deep leadership (21 years of age or older) must accompany all groups.
AT LEAST TWO ADULTS MUST BE PRESENT AT ALL TIMES.
All requests for use of camp must be in advance at Scout Service Center. A copy of the permit will be given to the ranger and a copy kept in the office.
All troops and patrols will check in and out with the ranger or caretaker and be responsible for cleanup.
Venturing and Exploring Usage of Camp
All of the same general guidelines as for Cubs and Scouts apply.
In case of a co-ed crew or post, both male and female leaders must attend.
Aquatics (Usage of Waterfront)
Any unit planning to use the waterfront for swimming, boating, or canoeing MUST HAVE CERTIFIED ADULT LEADERSHIP and be trained in the Safe Swim Defense Plan. Leaders-in-charge must obtain direct permission to use the waterfront from the Scout Service Center. Swimming will be limited to warm weather, normally after April 15th and before October 1st. NO swimming after dark. Other Boy Scout of America regulations must be followed. Life Jackets must be worn in boats and canoes. Use of boats and canoes will be limited at the discretion of the ranger and director.
Non-Scouting Groups
The camps may be made available to any youth group of high school age or under in the council area, provided camp is not scheduled for scout use and proper facilities are available. All regulations will be the same as for Scout groups and the program of non-scout groups must be in harmony with the principles of Scouting. There is a charge for use of the camp or any buildings. See application for details. Special consideration may be given any group that sponsors a Scouting unit and to United Way agencies whose purpose follows our own. The Hoosier Trails Council, BSA reserves the right to limit facility rentals to groups that align with Scouting’s values and polices.
General Policies
- During the preparation for and the operation of council’s long-term summer camp season, the use of camp is restricted to those units properly registered for long-term camping, approximately June 1 to August 1.
- Fishing is permitted at the camp by units as a unit activity or special SFOS members who have made application through the Service Center or through the ranger.
- Liquid fuels – the use of all types of liquid fuel must meet the requirements of policies outlined by the Executive Board.
- Alcohol – the possession of or use of ALL alcohol on council properties is not allowed.
- IMMEDIATE DISMISSAL FROM CAMP WILL OCCUR.
- Fires may be built only where designated by the ranger. All fires must be off the ground.
- Firearms and archery equipment are not allowed on council property.
- Special permission for use of camp by other groups as they occur may be presented to the board for approval.
- Council or district planned activities using camp will be handled individually at no charge unless damages occur.
- The ranger is the final authority in all matters of policies and procedures on the property.
