Kirk White was elected president of the Hoosier Trails Council, Scouting America in April, 2023. He is focused on membership growth, financial strength, and youth safety. Kirk is an Eagle Scout, Vigil Honor member of the Order of the Arrow and recipient of the Silver Beaver Award. As a youth member, he served as National Explorer President and member of the BSA’s National Executive Board. Kirk serves as Vice Provost for External Relations at Indiana University. Colonel White retired from the Indiana Army National Guard after 30 years of service. He is past chairman of the board of United Way of Monroe County, former Bloomington city council member and former Monroe County Commissioner.
James Smith is a second-generation Scouter and an Eagle Scout. He started his Scout journey in 1957 as a mascot of a newly formed unit in Brooklyn, Indiana. He served thirty-six years in the military and came back to Scouting in 2014. James supports the Scouting movement as well as the philosophy that Scouting is family centric, volunteer lead and professionally supported. The sole purpose of the commissioner corps is to be the heart, build relationships and to change lives by following the Scout Oath & Law. Professionally, James is a Configuration Manager for the Navy/Marine Corp Aviation Small Arms Program Office and is a retired Colonel, US Army. James graduated from Oakland University with a Master Business Management. He is married to Kelly Smith, and they have two children.
Glen attended his first Scout campout in 1972 with his family and was immediately hooked on the program. Having played a significant role in his up-bringing, Scouting was a natural choice when selecting a profession and Glen began working as a District Executive in the Crossroads of America Council, based in Indianapolis, IN, in 1994. Following this assignment, it was off to Kansas City to serve as the Director of Learning for Life with the Heart of America Council. In 2002, Glen became the Assistant Scout Executive in the Four Lakes Council, Madison, WI. A short move then to Milwaukee, where Glen served as the Director of Field Service for the Milwaukee County Council, proved to be a great experience. In 2010, Glen became the Scout Executive in the Hoosier Trails Council.
