Local Scout Receives           National Eagle Scout Merit Scholarship

Andy Higginbotham has been selected as one of sixty Eagle Scouts from across the country to receive a $1,000 scholarship provided by the National Eagle Scout Association.

Over 3,100 Eagle Scout scholarship applications were submitted for different Eagle Scout Scholarship programs.  Andy’s selection represents recognition of his superb record of accomplishments.

Higginbotham plans to attend Purdue University majoring in Management.

The Eagle Scout Service, under the direction of the Boy Scout Division, National Office, Boy Scouts of America, selects the winners through a review committee.  This committee also determines the number and size of scholarships to be granted each year to deserving Eagle Scouts graduating from high school.

One of the nation’s largest youth development organizations, the Boy Scouts of America currently has 4.7 million youth members and 1.2 million adult volunteers.
